The Clean Girl Makeup Routine Women Over 35 Are Loving in 2026

As a self taught makeup artist and clean beauty founder, I’m always watching how makeup trends evolve. The biggest shift I’m seeing in 2026? Women are moving away from heavy, complicated routines and embracing what I call clean girl makeup with grown-woman confidence.

It’s polished, fresh, skin-focused—and it takes about five minutes.

Here’s the routine I’m seeing everywhere.

Trend #1

Skin First, Makeup Second

The new beauty standard is healthy skin showing through, not full coverage masks.

Instead of heavy foundations, women are choosing lightweight complexion products that let their natural skin texture breathe.

Founder tip:
Use a light layer of foundation only where needed and blend with fingers for the most natural finish.

Trend #2

Cream Products Over Powders

Cream formulas melt into skin and move naturally with your face.

Powders can emphasize texture — especially as we get older.

This is why multi-use balms are exploding in popularity.

They add colour without looking like makeup.

Trend #3

Soft Glow Highlighter

Forget blinding highlight.

2026 is all about skin that looks naturally lit from within.

A touch of glow on the cheekbones and brow bone creates a lifted, healthy look.

Trend #4

Defined But Natural Lashes

Women want definition without crunchy, spider lashes.

The modern lash look is soft, separated and lifted.

One or two coats of mascara gives polish without drama.

Trend #5

One Product, Multiple Uses

Minimalism is huge right now.

Products that work for lips, cheeks and eyes are dominating clean beauty because they simplify routines and travel better.

This is where clean beauty really shines.

Trends come and go, but the biggest shift I’m seeing is this:
Women want makeup that works with their skin, not against it.

That’s exactly the philosophy behind everything we create at da lish cosmetics — uncomplicated beauty that fits real life.

Stay Fabulous,
Melanie
