Happy National Lipstick Day!

I couldn’t think of a better way to this day than featuring the story of our FLORENCE (LO4) matte lipstick.

When thinking of doing a red lipstick it was a no brainer for me. I had to pay homage to the OG aka the 1920 depression red. It was invented by Maurice Levy in 1915 and cost a dime! 

After centuries of male authority restricting women's use of lipstick for moral and religious reasons, red lip colour had become a true symbol of female rebellion.In 1933, Vogue declared lipstick "the most important cosmetic for women," the continued growth in the market, even while the Great Depression was in full swing.

This is what inspired the "Lipstick Effect," and why consumers continue to buy small, goods like lipstick to lift spirits during times of hardship.

Florence was my nana‘s name and she was brought over on the Queen Mary along with my Mother Rosemary as a war bride & child from England. My grandfather was a Canadian war veteran from Scotland.

She was classic, very British and a proper lady. This is what this lipstick embodies to me and the incredible history behind it. This is the most original, classic & iconic red lipstick in the world. Just like you!
